New Challenge

So we are learning very quickly that have a baby in the NICU is quite a rollercoaster ride. We had two great days in a row, and then a terrifying night last night. Callie's newest challenge is that her veins are extremely weak. They only last on IV for 1-2 days and they need to find another location. The problem is that she is going through veins faster than she can rebuild them. Any additional prayers are appreciated. Callie continues to fight, and she is braver than anyone we have ever known.
They did start providing her fat through her IV and they are hoping to start her on breast milk in the next few days. We will keep you all updated!

  6. Mommy's milk will make Callie and her veins much stronger. We're sending all our positive thoughts and prayers her way.

Tell Callie I've already started her preemie wardrobe! She'll be the best dressed little princess around.

  7. I am sure you all three are so tired from all the emotions you have been feeling and going through! What a wonderful treat to have held her yesterday! She surely felt at home with the two of you and she is blessed to have such truly wonderful people as her parents! We continue to pray each day (and throughout the day as we think of you all) for Callie's continued strength and the doctors' continued wisdom!

  8. Your first family picture is beautiful! Callie is getting stronger day by day with both of you by her side. A NICU stay truly is a roller-coaster ride. Remember to take care of yourselves also, Callie needs you to be strong and healthy :) The three of you are in my prayers.
