Talkative Girl!

Callie has been having a good week. She had a follow up appointment with her Neurosurgeon today and he was very happy. He doesn't want to see her again for two months!
The biggest change in Callie this week is that she has fully discovered her voice! She is constantly "talking" to us! It is so great to hear her little grunts! She is very animated already!
I have been having a lot of people ask about Haley, she is doing well...another little fighter! Here is her blog site if you want to keep up with her progress! http://web.me.com/mjwaskiewicz/Haley-J/Welcome.html

Remember when...

Remember when? This was taken on 3/26 when Callie wasn't close to fitting in this newborn outfit. This is her in that same outfit today! The arms are long for her, but other than that, it fits!

Prayers for a friend

My best friend, Sara, had a baby girl this morning, prematuraly at 29 weeks. Haley Jwaskiewicz was born this morning at 2lbs 7 oz and 14 inches long. Sara is recovering and Haley is already fighting. We know that God hears our prayers and has gotten Callie through so much and we know that he will do the same for Haley. Please keep Haley, Sara and Mike, and Haley's entire Medical team in your prayers.

A Great Weekend at Home!

Callie is having a great weekend at home! She doesn't like to sleep much, but she loves to eat! The picture of Callie and Daddy is her trying to eat his nose when Mommy was taking to long to get her milk! She was determined to eat at that exact moment!! Callie is also loving the nice weather outside. We try to take at least one walk with her each day and she only gets upset when we stop to talk-she likes to keep moving!!

Here is a picture of Callie and her stuffed elephant, DUMBO! She is definitely starting to get interested in her toys. Especially on her swing...she just follows the animals back and forth!!

Home Again

  • I am sorry that we haven't posted in several days, but our girl has been keeping us busy!! Callie came home from the Hospital on Sunday! She is doing really well. She does need some pain medication about once a day, but that is to be expected! Other than that, she is very alert and eating well!

Update

Callie had a good day yesterday and was able to make it out of the PICU this morning. We are now on the infants and toddlers floor at Johns Hopkins. We lucked out and ended up with our own room (at least for now)! Now that she is out of the PICU, Mommy is able to stay with her overnight, which is a good thing! Today has had some ups and downs. Her shunt is working well and the Neurosurgeons are happy (which makes Mommy and Daddy happy!) The down is that she is pretty anemic and they are thinking that she may need a blood transfusion before she leaves. We hate for her to have to have another transfusion, but if it is what she needs and will make her feel better than it is definitely worth it. They are going to watch her closely overnight and decide from there.

We had more good news today. Callie's friend Marlee, (she was in the NICU at Hopkins with Callie) had a VP shunt placed today and is doing well! She is across the hall from us now-we are neighbors again!

We will update everyone again soon! Thank you for your continued prayers!

Callie has her surgery scheduled tomorrow morning at 8:45 am at Johns Hopkins. Please keep Callie and her entire medical team in your prayers. We are hoping that after she recovers from this procedure (usually 3 days or so), she can come home for good!!

As of today, Callie is 6 lbs 11 oz! She is getting bigger and stronger every day.
