Callie has been home over a week now and she continues to thrive! She is up to 5 lbs 8 oz now...she just loves to eat!! She has more and more alert time each day, which is a lot of fun!
Last week we met with Callie's Neurosurgeon, and it has been determined that she will need the VP shunt. The reservoir that she has now is designed for smaller babies and it just can't keep up with her production of CSF. As of now, the surgery is scheduled for 6/4. At first, we were pretty upset, but then we realized that we knew that this was part of the plan from the beginning and it is what Callie needs. After having Callie home, it is so hard to face going back into the hospital, but maybe perhaps it is better to just get this behind us so we can focus on the future!
I will try and update the blog a couple of times each week, although it is definitely more difficult to find free time now that Callie is home!! We will also update as we hear more about the surgery. Please continue to keep Callie in your prayers!

It's great to see how big she's getting! We've been following her progrss and it's wonderful to see how well she's been doing.

I've been wondering how your visit went with the Neurosurgeon. Callie is a proven "trooper" however, and I have faith in her, you two, and the surgical team. Let me know if there is anything I can do. I would love to help.

Each picture is more adorable than the last!! So glad to hear she's gaining weight so quickly; it shows how strong and ready she is to face the next hurdle. Although it is stressful, we agree that it is good to step back and look at the big picture - get this surgery over and done with so that she can come home for good!!
ReplyDeleteKnow that you remain in our prayers every day ...

ReplyDeleteJust look at those cheeks! She looks great! Callie will face this next hurdle like she has each other one - like the brave little girl that she is. We're praying every day.

Callie looks so content. It sounds like you are settling into the family routine!
ReplyDeleteThe thought of another surgery must be so overwhelming. However, the difference is you know what to expect and that she will coming home shortly after!!!!
Love you all,

What a doll she is! I loved meeting Callie today....she is so soft and sweet. I will keep the prayers going and I am certain we will all get God's ear once again so He may bless the surgeons, medical team and Callie for a safe and successful procedure. God bless all three of you!
