First Steps!!

Callie officially took her first steps tonight!! We couldn't be more proud of her!! She will be one year, Adjusted Age, in a few weeks, so this is perfect timing! She is actually ahead of her Mommy who didn't walk until she was 14 months old!

Weekend Update

Callie has had a couple of follow-up doctors visits over the last couple of weeks. The first one was with her eye doctor. Callie's "lazy eye" hasn't improved much, although, sometimes, especially in the mornings it is perfectly in sync. He still wants to give her body the chance to correct on its own, although he doesn't feel this is likely. With preemies he likes them to be at least one year adjusted age before doing surgery. He has instructed us to continue patching her good eye for one hour a day and we will see him again at the end of the summer.

The second appointment was with her Neurosurgeon. He was extremely happy with her progress. He has always been very business like with us. This time, you could see his excitement with how well she is doing. He kept saying that he couldn't believe she is a 24 weeker! Obviously, we were thrilled to hear that!

The weather this weekend was beautiful. We made our first family trip to the Inner Harbor to see some friends from the NICU that were in town for doctors appointments. It was great to catch up with them and see how well their daughter is doing. It was also great for them to see Callie because the last time they saw her she weighed about 2 pounds.

Callie is really starting to enjoy "guppies". Each week, she has gotten more involved in her swimming lessons. She is starting to kick her legs and just starting to do the arm motions. We think this has been a really great experience for her!

Family, Friends, and Guppies!!

Callie has had a fun couple of weeks. She is getting more and more steady on her feet. We anticipate she will be walking in no time!
Callie made her first trip to Canton last weekend! She really handled the drive well, considering the distance!
While we were in Canton, Callie got to meet her friend Grady! (Grady's Mommy is Marci's friend from High School!) It was so cute watching them interact...it looks like they are having a conversation with each other!
Callie got to spend time with her "big" cousin Jack! Jack loved showing Callie all of his toys. And Callie loved trying them out, like the Police motorcycle below!

While we were in Canton, Callie got to spend some quality time with her Great Grandparents! She got to see three sets of Great Grandparents during our short visit...there was lots of love and Callie kisses going around!

Callie also had her first swimming lesson this weekend! It is at the local Athletic Club and it is called Guppies, how cute!!

Callie wasn't 100% thrilled with swimming lessons. I think it was a little overwhelming for her. She is so used to being in the "bubble" we created and swimming lessons had a lot of stimulation! I am hoping that she will be more comfortable next week!

She did have some fun moments swimming with Mommy and two little girls that will be in her class once she starts Daycare in the fall.

March for Babies

Today was our March of Dimes walk in Harford County. Team Callie May was a hit! Thank you so much to all that supported our us! The money that we raised supports programs that help moms have healthy, full-term pregnancies. Thanks to you, Team Callie May was able to raise over $3,600!!

Everyone we met was so amazed to see our 24 weeker and how well she is doing. We walked today with many families who were not as fortunate as we were. It reminded us how much more research is needed to benefit these babies!

We are so extremely blessed to have our miracle baby and all of the support we have recieved along this journey.

Spring is in full bloom and we couldn't resist doing a mini photo shoot of our little girl! Callie loved being outside for the shoot. I have to say that she was more interested in the boys playing in the street than in the flowers!!

Callie now loves to stroll with her baby doll! She is getting more balance everyday! Before we know it, she will be running around on her own!!

Loving Spring

Our Callie is getting "so big"! And now that it is Spring, we are finally able to get out of the house a little bit! This weekend we were able to go to church and out to breakfast. It was Callie's first time in a restaurant and she did great! She was SO curious! She kept looking around to check everything out! The poor girl has been stuck in our house for SO long! We still have to be careful not to expose her to germs, but as long as we are careful and wash our hands a lot, we can actually start going places-yeah!!

Callie also had her first experience with Rita's Italian Ice. Just for fun, Mommy and Daddy gave her a taste of their ice and she was in LOVE!! It was so cute, we couldn't resist giving her a few more bites!
Callie is really motoring all over now! She has mastered crawling and just loves to take off. She stops and turns around every few feet to wave to us...it is SO cute! We are looking forward to next weekend and our March of Dimes walk! It has been nice to help raise money for such a great cause.

Happy Easter!

What a difference a year makes! Here is a picture of Callie on her first Easter, last April, in her Easter basket. And the other picture above is of her today, with that same Easter basket! We love these comparison pictures...they remind us of how far our little girl has come! We are so blessed to have such a little fighter in our life!

Callie enjoyed her Easter. She got to spend time with her family and time outside-two of her favorite things!!
